MEET THE TEAM
Lisa is a member of the successful British pop group Steps who have achieved world wide sales of over 20 Million records and performed to audiences of over one million earning them the prestigious Brit Award. Lisa is an accomplished performer with many years of experience in the TV, Radio and Music World. Steps are about to embark on their 20th Anniversary celebrations in 2017 to mark 20 years in the music business and the entertainment industry.
Johnny trained at the prestigious Performing Arts ‘Performers’ College in the UK, gaining his teaching qualifications and a professional diploma in Performing Arts, before going into the commercial dance industry and becoming a successful dancer for artists such as Diana Ross, Robbie Williams, Steps, Atomic Kitten, Five and Sophie Ellis Bexter. He has performed on numerous TV shows such as The Brit Awards, Stars In Their Eyes, Shooting Stars, Abba Mania, CDUK and Top of the Pops, to name a few. Other TV credits include the ITV series ‘Celeb Air’ and MTV series ‘Totally Scott-Lee’.
Following his career as a commercial dancer, Johnny then went into the Music business and signed his first record deal with the band Boom! enjoying a top 15 hit and supporting Steps and Five on their UK Arena tours. He then signed his second record deal with Hear’say, achieving a No.6 hit in the official UK charts, as well as touring and recording in Europe and America.
Johnny made his Musical Theatre debut with the first UK tour of Starlight Express playing Hip Hopper 1 and Greaseball. He made his West End debut in the original West End Cast of Footloose, playing the principle role of bad boy ‘Chuck’ and also understudied and played Ren and Willard. Other theatre credits include the ‘Jack’ in Jack and the Beanstalk, the ‘Prince’ in Snow White for Qudos and the ‘Prince’ in Cinderella for Bill Kenwright.
Johnny has gained extensive teaching and adjudicating experience, including 2 years at London’s ‘Arts Ed’ as their Street Dance Teacher, Head of Professional Diploma dance at PPA Academy UK, along with guest teaching at Performers College, Masters and Guildford School of Acting. He is known for his dynamic teaching style and his classes are very popular with his students, both in the UK and Dubai. His students have gone on to achieve successful careers in TV, Music and the West End, including three of the Les Mis Cast, which recently performed at Dubai Opera in November.
Johnny is Founder and Principal of Dubai Performing Arts Academy, fondly known as DPA, with his wife Lisa Scott-Lee from Steps, and also runs his DPA Events company alongside, utilizing his skills and talent as a Creative Director and Choreographer in the music, stage and fashion world. He has produced, directed and choreographed catwalk shows for the likes of River Island, House of Frazer, BHS, La Senza, Porsche Design, Hugo Boss, Salam Stores, Karen Millen and Harvey Nichols. Recent events include Rugby 7’s, UNICEF Charity Gala Ball, Jumeirah Beach Hotel Halloween Flash Mob, Yas Mall Abu Dhabi Fashion Week and lots more. Johnny is able to provide his DPA students with numerous performing opportunities throughout the year, regularly featuring in his professional events with local and international brands, acts and performers.
Jessica grew up in south London and has always had a passion for the performing arts. She was lucky enough to be accepted into the BRITS school (Adele, Jessie J, Katy Melua & Amy Winehouse all studied there) at the age of 16, and gained a triple distinction in her Musical Theatre Diploma. After completing two years at the BRITS school she auditioned for the prestigious Guildford School of Acting, and after a successful 3 years of active studying gained a BA Hons Degree in Musical Theatre. Since graduating Jessica has been active in the Performing Arts world. She has been involved in many fringe theatre performances, travelling theatre companies, setting up Theatre in Education workshops, directing short plays and has also been working as a professional singer in many popular bands in the UK and around the UAE. Jessica loves working with children, she has been teaching children for over 7 years. Jessica thrives off the passion and excitement performing arts can bring into a child’s life, especially how their confidence and character is enhanced and how, through drama music and dance, a child can learn discipline and life skills. Jessica is so excited to be part of DPA, and is really looking forward to the journey ahead….
Lisa is a professional dancer, gymnast and aerialist acrobat from Edinburgh, Scotland. She is a fully UK qualified gymnastics coach holding her British and Scottish Gymnastics Qualifications Level 1,2 and 3, along with being a qualified ISTD teacher of dance. Lisa has years of teaching experience, having taught gymnastics since the age of 15 years old, when she gained her very first teaching qualification. Lisa's Acro classes are dynamic, she teaches a combination of gymnastics skills, such as free cartwheels, back walkovers and impressive multiple tumbles and flips.
Abbie started her Performing Arts education at a young age studying RAD and ISTD syllabi in the UK, continuing with this when her family relocated to Dubai. Abbie has studied and worked in Dubai since 2008. She has performed at events all over the UAE. Abbie has a passion for supporting children with special needs and hopes to one day start classes that will allow these children to express themselves through performing arts. With experience in both performing arts and business management, Abbie is delighted to have joined the DPA team full time as Operations Manager to support and nurture the ever growing DPA family.
Tiffany grew up in Staffordshire in the UK, where she gained a scholarship in Ballet to attend The Abbots Bromley school for girls, a boarding school with a Vocational Ballet and Dance department. She then went on to gain a place at the UK’s top two prestigious ballet schools, the Northern Ballet School and the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). Tiffany then studied for three years in London at the Royal Academy of Dance, where she gained a BA Hons Degree in Ballet and Education.
Tiffany went on to teach at the Central School of Ballet in London and Thomas’s Day School, now attended by Prince George.
Tiffany was offered a job in Dubai in 2009 and she has been here ever since. She has an enthusiasm and passion for interacting with, developing and educating children of all ages and abilities.
With a strong vision and desire to promote dance enjoyment and create accessibility of dance for all, Tiffany is a popular teacher and she has the ability to be adaptable and use a variety of teaching styles to increase participation and encourage the development of successful happy individuals.
Tiffany is thrilled to be part of the DPA Team and our growing Ballet Department.
Emily's passion for dance and specifically Ballet started from a young age attending RAD and ISTD dance classes on a daily basis, alongside competing in dance competitions all over the UK and performing in theatre productions.
Emily’s RAD Ballet training began when she attended the Royal Ballet School in London, before moving to Dubai in 2008 with her family. She has been teaching Ballet in Dubai for over five years and is a fully qualified RAD Ballet Teacher.
Emily has an incredible detail and knowledge of the RAD syllabi and technique.
She is very excited to be joining the DPA team and can't wait to share her enthusiasm and passion for Ballet with all her students.
Jordan is a Professional Dancer and Performer from London, UK. She started dancing at the age of 3 and went on to complete her ISTD, RAD and LAMDA Examinations, as well as gaining her Trinity College of London Diploma. Jordan graduated from ‘PPA’, the Performance Preparation Academy in Surrey, England in 2014 with a Diploma in Musical Theatre, after being trained by our very own Johnny Shentall-Lee.
Jordan has extensive Performing and Teaching experience across the Europe and the UK, and throughout multiple Performing Arts schools in England.
Jordan is thrilled to have become a part of the DPA family and cannot wait to pass on her London style training and knowledge to the DPA Students in Dubai.
Stephanie's dream to become a Professional Dancer and Performer began aged 6 when she joined an ISTD Dance Academy in Stratford upon Avon.
After completing a Dance Diploma at Stratford upon Avon Performing Theatre Arts College, Stephanie was awarded a full scholarship at Italia Conti Theatre Arts School in Guildford.
Having graduated in 2014, Stephanie joined Warner Leisure Group where she performed in a host of Professional Stage Shows.
One year after, Stephanie spread her wings and joined Viva Hotels & Resorts in Spain and toured around various locations with their Professional Shows.
Back in the UK in Christmas 2016 Stephanie starred in Cinderella, a touring Christmas Professional Pantomime, which was an opportunity for Stephanie to showcase her theatrical ability.
Later on that year, Stephanie joined the cast of Haven Theatre Company where she performed in their Professional Shows such as MJ Legends, Festival Of Anthems, Jersey To Motown, ABBA and many more over the three years she spent with them.
Stephanie brings with her a wealth of experience. She is so excited to be in Dubai with the incredible opportunity to work at DPA and she is enjoying getting to know each DPA student. Stephanie is looking forward to helping students to turn their dreams into reality and sharing her drive, passion, energy and enthusiasm through Dance, Music, Drama and Musical Theatre here at DPA.
